Before there was all of this snazzy technology with “graphics” there were text adventures. (These came well after the original text adventures aka “books” but that’s beside the point.) Most of these adventures seemed to involve rather improbable plots as well as statements like the one used by the crab in the last panel. Then you would type in your response and hope the machine knew all of the words you were using. Usually it didn’t.

Remember the choose your own adventure books? I loved those!
I remember the first time I read a choose your own adventure – I didn’t follow (or even read) the instructions. Oh, I was so mad and confused, reading it like a normal book! lol – I was staying at my grandma’s house and SHE (a 70 yr old woman) had to explain it to me. LOL!
